Tip of the Day – can you help?

Hello and welcome to the first Scene & Herd newsletter of 2024.  We all hope that you had a lovely festive season.  We certainly did.

Our top tip (courtesy of the wonderful Delicious Magazine) from this Christmas is to roast your potatoes in advance of Christmas Day and freeze them so that you only have to reheat them on the day. Game changer! (and here’s the recipe… https://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/freeze-ahead-roast-potatoes/).

Gaining this important new tattie knowledge got me thinking! Perhaps we (the team here at Scene & Herd and the OnFARM podcast and OnFARM Academy) could offer up a new hint or tip (or maybe an interesting fact) every day in 2024? Quickly concluding that this was perhaps a little too much of a challenge, I’ve adapted the target and decided that maybe every weekday during term time might be manageable. So that’s the goal.

Simply follow our OnFARM podcast/academy account on Instagram (@on_farmuk) and we’ll offer you a new tip each day.

Now, I’ve been considering this over the holidays and I think I’ve got a decent bank of tips up my sleeve. But to achieve this goal, I’m going to need almost 200.

Can you help? What’s your top tip, handy hack or smart suggestion that we could share?  We’d love it if you could tell us – and even better, we’ll credit you for your idea when we post it to Insta.

Maybe you are a chef with an excellent time-saver, a sheep farmer with a tip on how to make life easier, or a lawyer who can offer up a simple piece of knowledge that we should all know?!

Please reply to this email with your tip (or just a fact that you think we might all find interesting – one I learned recently is that there are 1.73 million cattle in Scotland!) and we’ll share it. Naturally, we’d prefer if it was rural or foodie in nature but it doesn’t have to be. Just send us something interesting!

There is a prize for the first person to email me their tip.

Can’t wait to read them all.
