Communicating with the non-farming public

The Scene and Herd team are all expert communicators. Communication is at the heart of everything we do: podcasts, website design, branding etc, and we think we do it rather well. We also notice when others don't!

Religion and Politics

Three of my main life ‘rules’ are: Never discuss religion or politics; Whether you believe you can, or you believe you can’t, you’re right, Never wear black and navy together! I’m certainly not qualified to dish out fashion advice and the second point speaks for itself so I’m going to touch on the first one today.

Please be kind

I’m sure that most of us are kind, most of the time. However, it struck me yesterday that maybe we could all do better. Someone was really quite unkind to me in an email and instead of ignoring or replying back in the nicest possible way, I was a little unkind in return. It made me feel good that I’d not let her beat me down – but I only felt good for a few seconds until I realised that all I’d done was reduce myself to her level. Then I felt terrible.

The client was involved with livestock farming and she and the PT had had a few discussions about veganism and appeared to have agreed to disagree. The PT certainly didn’t seem to be ramming her views down anybody’s throat.

What the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Can Teach Us About Marketing

For three weeks in August, thousands of people descend on Scotland's capital to enjoy one of the greatest cultural festivals in the world as over 200 venues play host to over 2,000 performances as part of the Edinburgh Fringe. While the Fringe has helped to establish the careers of many writers and performers, the best the majority can hope for is to minimise financial losses from putting on the show. No wonder then that some performers go to extreme lengths to get 'bums on seats'.
