The Rural Scene (the Scene & Herd rural blog and news updates) looks at what’s new, what’s relevant, what’s tasty, what’s fun and what’s challenging about life in the Great British Countryside. We offer an insider insight into rural Britain, highlighting some of the exceptional people, businesses and innovations we believe that everybody should know about.
Borders beef farmer Giles Henry regularly does soil sampling and carbon testing on his farm and has done for many years. He tells Monty what he gets out of it, and how it feeds into his business planning. In April 2022, a Scottish Government incentive scheme was launched - to provide farmers and crofters with funds to support carbon audits and soil sampling.

My feet hurt, my back hurts and, if it could, I’m sure my liver would be hurting too! Yes, they could maybe do with a few more loos in the new Members Pavilion (😉) but well done to the whole team for bringing us all together again and hosting a truly superb four days.
